Orange lid – collecting recyclables together: in many cities and districts, orange denotes the recyclables bin. In addition to plastic and metal sales packaging, it also takes non-packaging items of the same material, such as cooking pots, screws, plastic bowls, watering cans or toys without electronics. Electrical appliances, batteries, residual waste and glass do not belong in it. As with the whole two-colour programme, the principle applies: the grey body is neutral, the lid indicates the waste stream – an advantage when several containers stand side by side. Whether and in what form a recyclables bin is offered where you live is decided by the local authority; checking the local waste guidelines provides certainty.
