Red lid – what it stands for in practice: the principle of two-tone containers is simple: the grey body stays neutral and usable for any fraction, the lid carries the colour information – which is why this arrangement is standard in many municipalities. Red is not uniformly assigned across the country and mostly serves special fractions or commercial collections: internal separation within businesses, separately collected material streams, or marking a container that specific waste explicitly does not belong in. Before use in the municipal collection system, the colour should be agreed with the responsible waste management provider, as its assignment is regulated differently from place to place.
