Blue lid: paper, cardboard, cartons: with two-tone containers, the lid signals the fraction, while the grey body stays the same for all collections – this significantly simplifies procurement and replacement and is therefore standard in many municipalities. Blue stands for paper, cardboard and cartons: newspapers, flyers, writing paper, books without plastic covers and broken-down packaging boxes. Coated paper, hygiene papers and wallpaper offcuts belong in residual waste, beverage cartons usually in packaging collection. Because lid colours are assigned at municipal level, the allocation can vary case by case – the requirements of your waste management company are decisive.
